Pohanka Ford Makes its Mark as the Newest Pohanka of Salisbury Dealership

The all-new Pohanka Ford of Salisbury spent the month of April giving back to the Delmarva Community. Pohanka Ford is the newest dealership to join the Pohanka of Salisbury family of dealerships. Pohanka of Salisbury has always been known for its commitment to the community with its Pohanka Pays it Forward program, which has actively donated over four million dollars to 750+ charitable organizations and counting! Pohanka Ford of Salisbury is continuing this legacy by dedicating this April to giving back to a few specific organizations in the Salisbury and Delmarva communities.
To kick off the beginning of spring the staff of Ford visited local residents in nursing homes around our area. With flowers provided by the American Cancer Society, they were able to brighten the days of hundreds of residents and staff of the Wicomico and Delmar Nursing Homes. Pohanka of Salisbury is happy to support the American Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Days!
Pohanka Ford followed that by visiting our local boys (and girls) in blue! Before Easter, they went to all of the local Police stations to bring our officers, dispatchers, 911 operators, and staff a sweet treat for the holiday, girl scout cookies! Ford graciously supported Local Girl Scout Troop 490 for all of the cookies donated!
The staff of Ford ended the month by partnering with our friends from SU Baseball to give some dogs the day of their life! Pitchers from SU, Jackson Balzan, Brock Hilligoss, Corey Burton, Brandon Epstein, Benji Thalheimer, and the Pohanka staff loaded in Ford trucks and headed to the Humane Society of Wicomico County! They treated four pups to a doggy’s day out, complete with treats, toys, a trip to Pet Smart, some extra loving from Ford’s salesmen, and playtime in the park! All of the sponsored pups can be seen on the Pohanka Ford Facebook page and they can all be adopted from the Wicomico Humane Society, with all fees covered by Pohanka Ford of Salisbury!
The entire Pohanka of Salisbury family of dealerships is committed to giving back to and supporting its local community in every way it can!

City of Salisbury Hosts First Ever Marathon Event

The City of Salisbury hosted their first ever full marathon, half marathon and 5k event on the morning of April 6th 2018. Runners from all over the nation flocked to our small city to enjoy a one of a kind course.

The 26.2 mile course was a qualifier for the famous Boston Marathon. Known for its flat terrain, Salisbury became the ideal course for competitive runners to qualify for the legendary race. Every mile or so had snack and aid stations as well as volunteers and bystanders cheering on the runners.

“The SBY Marathon was exciting in that it brought a Boston qualifier to our backyard.” Said Jeff Rodgers, a seasoned marathon runner “All the volunteers made you feel incredible and encouraged you to push through and run on.”

While some came with high hopes of placing or getting a qualifying spot, others were simply along for the ride.

Amanda Wilkinson , a Delmar Delaware native who had never run a timed race in her life said she had been training for months for this event. For Wilkinson it wasn’t about finishing as fast as she could but just to finish at all. She wanted to prove to herself and her loved ones that anything is possible and wanted to represent the Salisbury area.

“The race was incredible” said Wilkinson. “The first half felt great but it got pretty intense after mile 18 or so, but I finished!”

Pohanka’s involvement with the race was substantial given that they were the title sponsor. The start and finish lines were both laced with the Pohanka Pays It Forward logo reminding all the runners and spectators the importance of giving back and supporting the local community.

“Pohanka made all the difference” said marathon participant Janet McGillian. “Their involvement really made the event possible.”

The organizers of the Salisbury Marathon were very excited with the great success of the event. Hopefully this will become an annual tradition that the people of Salisbury will look forward to and participate in for years to come.

Pohanka of Salisbury Hosts First Ever Yoga Night

yoga class

On September 22nd 2017 Mercedes Benz of Salisbury hosted their first ever yoga night! The event included an evening yoga session with world renowned yoga instructor Elyza Dolby as well as wine, d’oeuvres and a relaxing period for participants to talk with the instructor as well as the other attendees. The class, which was held in the Mercedes-Benz of Salisbury showroom, was an “all levels” yoga class that showcased a mixture of deep breathing exercises and focused on fluid movements and balancing postures.

“We were very excited to have the opportunity to do an event like this” said Alex Macatuno Mercedes-Benz of Salisbury General Manager. “It was something different that showed our love and respect for our community members health even if they are not in the market for a new vehicle.”

The class was open and free of charge to the public which allowed anyone who was interested to attend. Yoga mats were even supplied for those who didn’t bring one. Those who attended the event were raving about there experience. Many asked for the event to be held again and some wished it could be done on regular intervals.

Hosting a yoga event might be something new for the automobile industry but Pohanka is well rehearsed in bending over backward for their customers and the community. This health focused event coincides perfectly with the the “Pohanka Pays it Forward” campaign. Through this campaign Pohanka of Salisbury has managed to donate over $1,000,000 to more than 750 local charities and organizations.
